The F3′H gene encodes a cytochrome P450 flavonoid 3′-hydroxylase from Gerbera hybrida that catalyzes the hydroxylation of naringenin to eriodictyol. Its catalytic activity requires electron transfer from an associated cytochrome P450 reductase. The native enzyme contains an N-terminal transmembrane segment responsible for membrane anchoring. Removal of this domain and fusion to a truncated cytochrome P450 reductase (tCPR) from Catharanthus roseus yields a soluble and functional enzyme in Escherichia coli [359].
